5 Day Gorilla Trekking and Rafting
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Your private guide will pick you up in Kampala and then head southwest through Uganda’s picturesque countryside and the verdant Kigezi highlands en route to Bwindi Forest National Park. This will include a lunch stop in Mbarara before we continue through savannah grasslands filled with banana plantations and the famous long horned Ankole cows.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience and Community Visit
Today is the reason why so many travelers head specifically to Uganda, Gorilla Trekking. Directly after breakfast we will head out to the park headquarters for our briefing from the head UWA guide. There you will meet your personal guide and rangers who will lead you through the forest in pursuit of the gorillas. Depending upon your physical capabilities and desire to hike, the hike through the jungle can take 2-8 hours depending on the location of your specific family of gorillas. Upon finding the family of gorillas, you will be allowed to spend an entire hour with them to photograph and observe them. Your personal guide and rangers are incredibly experienced with the gorillas and will give you guidance as they ensure your safety throughout the duration of the experience. After your trek, return to your lodge where you will be serenaded by local Batwa singers and dancers before dinner.
Day 3: Transfer to Jinja and Sunset River Cruise
After breakfast, you and your private guide will depart Mbarara proceeding to the source of the River Nile along the northern shore of Lake Victoria in Jinja. This will include a lunch stop in Kampala and then onwards to Jinja. After checking in at your lodge, you will head out for a sunset boat cruise on the source of the River Nile.
Day 4: Full Day Water Rafting on the River Nile
After breakfast, your private guide will drive you and your group to the rafting headquarters for a safety briefing. Afterwards, you will head to the starting point of your white water rafting adventure on the famous River Nile to meet your professional rafting guide. Don’t worry, there are no crocodiles to worry about in this part of the Nile! After your white water rafting adventure, your private guide will pick you up and head back toward your lodge in Jinja.
Day 5: Transfer to Kampala
Your private guide will pick you up from your lodge and head towards Kampala. As we drop you off in Kampala after a successful trip, this marks the end of your Gorilla Trekking Experience with Safaris By Jon.
